Welcome to the Autumn edition of Nelson Croom’s Partners’ e-Newsletter.

Whilst we’ve been busy creating and designing new courses for your online portfolios, learners have been beavering away at our new peer-enriched learning courses. We’re also launching a third course in the series Ethical Issues for Accountants – featuring 28 true-to-life case studies of ethical dilemmas the course will get learners delving into the complexities and debating the ethics.

We hope that you enjoy this newsletter. Don’t forget that you can download information and resources from the Partners’ Area of the Nelson Croom website. As new courses are launched you’ll find blank product briefs and descriptions to download and use in your marketing materials.

Playing the budgeting game

“In my experience you can spend years learning about budgeting in theory and it won’t prepare you for budgeting in practice”

Making Budgeting Work in the Real World, one of our recently released peer-enriched learning courses, is already proving popular with learners. We caught up with author Stuart Warner last month to get the lowdown on how to play the budgeting game and his new course. If you missed the interview in last month’s edition of Nelson Croom News, you can read the full version on our blog.

Course spotlight: Thinking Strategically for Accountants

Why is strategy important?Thinking Strategically for Accountants is designed to teach finance professionals how to contribute effectively to the strategic debate and process in their organisation. The latest course from Anna Faherty (also author of Communicating Complex Ideas for Accountants) shows learners why strategy is important and how to think strategically in their organisation. Learners will also discover some of the key strategic theories, learn how organisations develop and implement strategy and try out the key tools used in strategy analysis and formulation.

If you haven’t already asked for a copy of this in your gateway but would like one then just get in touch.

Technology tip

If you’ve not seen the technology tips in our the Partners’ Area of the Nelson Croom website, make sure you take a look. Imago has some brilliant features to help you in the management and promotion of your courses.

2. Click on Summary Usage Charts
3. This will list all reports available to you. The reports on the left are for the course that you have currently selected, and on the right for all courses in your gateway
4. Select Completion certificates issued (or Gateway completion certificates issued) about halfway down the menu
5. Your report will be displayed

Nelson Croom: Shortlisted for Elearning AwardsThere’s been a lot of excitement in the office recently as we heard that we’ve been shortlisted as Elearning Development Company of the Year in the Elearning Awards 2009. It’s one of two entries to reach the finals - we’ve also been shortlisted with the Institute of Fundraising for Best Online or Distance Learning Programme. The winners will be announced on 12th November at a glitzy ceremony so we’re keeping our fingers crossed. But to be honest, we’re just chuffed to bits that we’ve been recognised on the shortlist!
